Training

Domestic Abuse / Coercive Control / Domestic Violence

Whether you are a victim of domestic abuse or a professional working in the sector, we have information, resources and tools to help you.

Clare’s training has been commissioned across the UK for over 20 years to multiagency audiences across all statutory, voluntary and community sectors, and including the Military, from basic awareness raising to Masterclasses. Clare has also been an Associate Trainer and Expert for many organisations over the years, some examples are Sarah Wigley Associates, Who’s In Charge?, SafeLives, Project 360.

Clare is a known expert on the complexities and nuances of domestic abuse, coercive control false counter-allegations, DARVO, so-called parental alienation, intentions of a perpetrator, and how that impacts on victims, both adult or child. Clare’s knowledge looks at domestic abuse through an intersectional lens, with considerations to cultures of practice, gender, sexuality, or social norms of a given society. Explaining the dynamics and interactions of power imbalances, and how they are used to exploit others..

Professionals need to have insight of this power dynamic to inform their practice. Understanding how the dynamic interplays with a clients actions and engagement, in a meaningfully trauma informed way, is imperative to enable good and safe practice. Many victims of trauma, function in a trauma response state, more often this is a diverse combination of high alert and self-preservation led, actions and reactions, some examples are Sarah Wigley Associates, Who’s In Charge?, SafeLives, Project 360.
